Random Post. It has been a while!

So I was watching a youtube video this evening and someone brought up the point that if most people were sent back in time they would be utterly useless.

This got me thinking about my current life-skills and how they could help me if I were ever sent back in time. I can cook, I can sew enough that I could fashion some fabric into some kind of garment, I kind of know how to grow vegetables (but I always murder them) - I think I could potentially survive if I didn't need to kill anything or light a fire.

I've also been thinking about the kinds of basic skills I don't have that I'd like to have. I wouldn't mind being able to make a fire from scratch or learning how to make bread from absolute scratch (grinding the flour then the rest). I think it's a bit sad how dependent we've become on machines and technology to live - but at the same time it saves lives and is awesome and is the entire reason I am able to write to you from my bed in the dark.

Here are the next 10 Question Tuesday questions

40. Have you ever been a girl scout/boy scout? I have been a moonbeam & a sunbeam (kind of the same thing but run by a Church. I'm not religious and got in trouble for asking questions...)

41. If you were travelling to another continent would you rather fly or take a boat? What am I, a convict? Of course I would fly!

42. Why is the sky blue during the day and black at night? Because of your mum. And something to do with light and the sun and rotation and space. Ask Brian Cox I'm sure he'd know.

43. What does your name mean? Universal or whole in German.

44. Would you rather explore the deeps of the ocean or outer space? Both would be amazing.

45. Word association
What is the first word that comes to mind when you see the word:

Air:  Bear (I have no fucking idea why)
Meat: defeat
Different: me (yay we're not rhyming any more)
Pink: stink (THIS IS BECAUSE I SNIFFED PINKS AWFUL PERFUME TODAY)
Deserve: happy
White: powah (I blame Cards Against Humanity)
Elvis: vinyl
Magic: bus
Heart: beat
Clash: titans
Pulp: fiction

46. If you could meet any person in the world who is dead who would you want it to be?
There are so many dead people I'd love to meet - so many interesting and troubled minds who never knew just how renowned and admired they would be down the track. It makes me sad that they never knew how valuable their knowledge and work would become. I want to hug these people and tell them that they matter.

47. What if you could meet anyone who is alive?
As a geek and also a fangirl this list is tremendously long. Five of these people are: Stephen Fry, Brian Cox, Simon Pegg, Benedict Cumberbatch and David Tennant.

48. Is there a movie that you love so much you could watch it everyday?
There are a few, but I wouldn't because I wouldn't want to get sick of them.

49. You are going to be stuck alone in an elevator for a week. What do you bring to do?
De-gas and an oxygen tank to do breathing. Probably my DS and some food and some kind of power point.. and probably a drill to make a hole in the floor to do my business. Why they hell would you plan to be stuck alone in an elevator for a week?

50. Have you ever saved someone's life or had your life saved?
Maybe to one of these.

HERE IS A BONUS PICTURE OF MYSELF WITH A GIANT PENIS SHAPED ROCK

Question Tuesday - 22/10/13 (40/5000)

[Second lot of questions, #21 - 40!]

21. Are you more of a giver or a taker?
I definitely give more than I take.

22. Do you make your decisions with an open heart/mind?
I try my hardest to make every decision with an open mind, but at the end of the day you need to be comfortable with what you are doing.

23. What is the most physically painful thing that has ever happened to you?
Giving birth.

24. What is the most emotionally painful thing that has ever happened to you?
My parents dying - that's pretty emotionally shit.

25. Who have you hugged today?
My kids, my husband and a few friends.

26. Who has done something today to show they care about you?
A few people.

27. Do you have a lot to learn?
Everybody does! Even the most learned person could stand to learn a few things. :P

28. If you could learn how to do three things just by wishing and not by working what would they be?

A I would love to instantly learn another language. I really like the sound of German or Japanese.

B Learning how to be really organised would be sweet too! Would make studying and life in general so much easier.

C If I could be in the habit of doing healthy things and regularly exercising that'd be great too.

29. Which do you remember the longest: what other people say, what other people do or how other people make you feel?
More often than not I will remember negative things for as long as I can remember. Whether it be something nasty someone I valued as a friend or relative said to/about me or did or made me feel - that shit sticks.

30. What are the key ingredients to having a good relationship?
Communication, trust and respect, but the ingredients depend on the people in the relationship - these are simply things that *I* value in a relationship.

31. What 3 things do you want to do before you die?

A Skydive.

B Visit England, Scotland & Wales.

C Have a degree or diploma of some description.

32. What three things would you want to die to avoid doing?

A What the hell kind of question is this?

B I guess I'd rather die than hurt somebody I love or

C Eat my own foot...

33. Is there a cause you believe in more than any other cause?
Non that come to mind straight away, I believe in a lot of values and things but not really any 'causes'.

34. What does each decade make you think of:

The 19..
20's: Flappers & The Charleston

30's:

40's: War.

50's: Housewives, pretty dresses, baking and awesome hair.

60's: Fucking amazing music.

70's: Illicit drug use.

80's: OH GAWD THE HAIR, also ballads.

90's: Best children's programming.

2000 (so far): All of the comedic movies.

2010's: Transitioning into a grown up!

35. Which decade do you feel the most special connection to and why?
The most personal connection would be a toss up between the 00s & the 10s because my children were born and my parents died in those times - so special in a life changing way. Not personal but still special would be the 50s because I love the fashion and the 60s because the music is amazing and I thoroughly enjoy it.

36. What is your favourite oldie/classic rock song?
At the time of writing this I cannot think of a single classic rock song. I do, however, really love Jet's - Are You Going To Be My Girl and it holds a special place in my heart!

37. What country do you live in and who is the leader of that country?
I live in Australia and our leader is some idiot.

If you could say any sentence to the current leader of your country what would it be?
Go back to the 1940's you backwards, narrow-minded twat.

38. What's your favourite TV channel to watch in the middle of the night?
Youtube. I honestly don't watch actual tv so don't really have a preferred midnight channel.

39. What Disney villain are you the most like and why?
I haven't seen enough Disney movies to make an informed decision in regards to this question.

40. Have you ever been a girl scout/boy scout?
I have been the Salvation Army's equivalent.. I think you were called a moonbeam/sunbeam..

The Jungle Giants - Concert & Venue Review

On Thursday 17th October my brother and I headed to The Newport in Fremantle to see The Jungle Giants.

Venue: The Newport has always been quite good for live music - the way their stage, dance floor and bar are set up work quite well I think. Price wise - the drinks are cheap (unless you get a fancy $22+ cocktail from the tiki bar) I had a lemon, lime & bitters ($3) and a Perfect Storm cocktail ($8) which were both made quickly and pretty darn delicious. Also their female toilets were close the immaculate the entire time - a great feat for any place that hosts drunk individuals on a regular basis.
The Background Noise: The music playing before and in between acts was basically like someone had thrown on a triple j mix tape which, considering the band we were there too see, was rather fitting. In between the opening act and The Jungle Giants some DJ hit the decks and was playing rap music - when nobody was dancing along to it, he just turned it up and played tracks with more aggressive sounding lyrics. The rap just did not seem to go with the rest of the night, an odd choice in tunes in my opinion.
Opening Act: I did not catch the name of this group and they really weren't my thing. The singer had a beautiful voice and the drums were amazing, despite a few issues with their equipment I think they put on a pretty good set. They appeared ridiculously nervous but after a couple of songs seemed fine.

The Jungle Giants: These guys absolutely rocked it. It was the second time I have seen them live and, once again, was impressed by how well they play live. They easily replaced synth with epic guitar solos in one of their tracks from their latest album (Learn To Exist - out now) and still work really well together as a band. They also had a few technical difficulties but they were dealt with promptly and didn't effect the overall show in anyway (at least not for me). I would definitely go see them live again.

Merchandise: The merchandise stand was set up really well, all prices were clearly displayed and they had eftpos. I picked up their record and it is bright orange and awesome.

Negatives: The wait time from doors opening to the opening act then the wait time between the opening act and The Jungle Giants was a bit lengthy for my liking, but maybe I'm just getting old.
Also whilst the Giant's guitar technician was trying to sound check the DJ was playing ridiculously loud music and seemed to completely ignore the tech's gesturing to turn it down slightly so he could hear what he was doing (this might be why they had the issues they had, who knows).

Wisdom teeth? More like asshole teeth.

STAHP

For a while now my wisdom teeth have been causing me trouble.
Up until last week it was bearable but now it's getting to the OMFGWHYYYYYY stage.
There's nothing I can afford to do about them yet, but soon I can.
It's just waiting it out. As a result I've been a bit quiet on social media and not really kept up with my jewellery making, but with how this new pain medication/antiseptic numbing gel & mouthwash routine is going I might be able to get back into the swing of things.
Right now all I give a crap about it being able to enjoy the gig I'm going to tomorrow night.
Please teeth can you refrain from being jerks tomorrow night?

Anyway needed to vent that shit somewhere, thought here was better than nowhere.
If you're looking for something more chipper, feel free to read either of yesterdays posts.
They're both a bit more happy.

Question Tuesday! (20/5000)

Miss Molly over at 'The Princess & The Geek' has started answering 5000 questions, every Tuesday in lots of 20. I decided to tag along - here are the first 20! :)

1. Who are you?
My name is Emmy. I am 24, Australian and geeky.
I'd tell you more but I think these 5000 questions will probably answer any questions you might have.

2. What are the 3 most important things everyone should know about you?
I swear a a lot. I have an odd sense of humour. I am awesome.

3. When you aren't filling out 5,000 question surveys like this one what are you doing?
Child rearing, reading, making jewellery, baking and being creative.

4. List your classes in school from the ones you like the most to the ones you like the least (or if you are out of school, think of the classes you did like and didn't like at the time).
Biology
Art
Chemistry
Algebra/Trigonometry
English Literature
I actually enjoyed all of the above equally.
Sport - being the slow one isn't fun!

5. What is your biggest goal for this year?
To get all the paperwork I'm waiting to get done, done and to start renovations on our house.

6. Where do you want to be in 5 years?
In our house with chickens and a cat. In a part time job. Still being creative on a regular basis. I'd also like to be at my ideal fitness level.

7. What stage of life are you in right now?The one where you feel as if you're in a constant state of existential crisis. Figuring out life stuff!

8. Are you more child-like or childish?
I guess I'm a bit child-like in my sense of wonder and exploration, although I can be childish in my excitement towards things sometimes.

9. What is the last thing you said out loud?
'Night night pudding pants' - as I tucked my daughter in.

Like everyone else's life my life has its ups and its downs and its moments of stasis.

13. Does time really heal all wounds?
Depends on the wound! An untreated necrotic wound probably won't heal by itself...

14. How do you handle a rainy day?
I enjoy it! Sometimes I'll even rug up and go sit outside with a hot cup of tea and just watch it.

15. Which is worse...losing your luggage or having to sort out tangled holiday lights?
Untangling holiday lights.

16. How is your relationship with your parents?

There's Something About Tuesdays.

Another Tuesday is upon us and as I sit at my desk I feel relaxed and rather content.
I feel this way every Tuesday and I know exactly why.

Lazy

Tuesday, for me, is a day of calm and solitude.
The entire house is void of other people.
Music can be played loud and sung along to, a few moves can even be bust.
The house is usually cleaned from top to bottom by around 10am, after that it's chill time.
I take a bath whilst reading a book then usually find myself at my desk in the perfect headspace for creativity.
Whether it be drawing, writing, beading, painting or building things in minecraft - it just seems to flow.

Rainy days :3

All of this is helped along by the weather.
For some reason the last couple of months, on a Tuesday, dark clouds fill the sky, the smell of rain fills my nostrils and sometimes - if luck serves us well - we get some rain.
I have no idea why this is a thing, but it is and I love it.
Yesterday the sun was warm and beautiful, I even wore a dress without leggings for the first time in ages.
Today it started out with some sun, but the weather has since turned and I have high hopes for some rainfall.
I love the rain.
My love for the rain is a like a pigs love for mud or a cats love for sitting on top of the magazine you're reading or a dog's love of a big juicy bone or an assholes love of aggressivly calling me a c*nt whilst overtaking me because I was doing the speed limit - you get the idea.
Pinterest

Rain is good.
Especially on Tuesdays.

The first post. The best post.

My name is Emmy and this is my blog.
This is not my first blog. This is also not my second, third, fourth or even my fifth blog - but it is my newest.
Marvellous Disillusion will be filled to the brim with peeks into my strange little brain and snippets of my opinions on varying topics from television, video games, youtubers, movies, various creative exploits, baking, fashion, music, people and things in general.

I hope that whilst you are here something draws you in and you make your visits a regular thing as I would love nothing more than to confront your eyes with word and picture vomit often.

American Horror Story: season 3, episode 1 was not long on my screen and holy crap this season is going to be absolutely amazing. I am really intrigued as to where they will take certain story lines throughout the the following weeks!

Other shows I am currently watching which will more than likely be mentioned on this blog include Sleepy Hollow and Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - this changes frequently as new seasons and series begin. I watch A LOT of television. Expect to read about it. I will be as spoiler free as humanly possible.

This disjointed post was brought to you by no sleep and a bad ass Australian geek.
